Orientation Sessions
As a first step in learning about Sabot at Stony Point's Lower School, interested parents are invited to attend one of the orientation sessions scheduled during the Fall/Winter. Our Executive Director, Irene Carney, will discuss the school’s philosophy and programs and will spend time answering questions about the school. Parents of current students will be available to answer questions as well.
Application
Families who wish to apply after attending an orientation should submit a completed application and Request for Records form, along with a non-refundable $50 application fee. Please consult the admissions calendar at the bottom of this page for important dates and deadlines.
Testing
After submitting an application, families should make arrangements with a qualified psychologist or licensed testing center to administer the appropriate test to their child, as indicated below:
Students applying to enter Kindergarten should take the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI-III).
Students applying to enter First through Fifth Grades should take the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-IV).
(If you are having the test administered at another independent school, please furnish a copy of the results when you receive them.) Test results should be submitted to Sabot at Stony Point no later than Friday, January 28, 2011. We suggest families contact one of the following centers:
Academic Advisors
School Visits
Families who submit an application will be contacted in early January to schedule a school visit for prospective students. Students applying to enter Kindergarten will visit in small groups on one of the following dates:
Wednesday, January 5, 2011, 9:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011, 9:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
The children will participate in various activities with faculty and our Director of Program Development, Marty Gravett. Parents will attend a brief parallel session and then join their children in the classrooms.
Students applying to enter First through Fifth Grades will be individually scheduled to spend a day in class with prospective classmates.
Admissions Decision
Parents will receive a letter notifying them of our admissions decision.
Enrollment
Parents of accepted students will receive an enrollment contract along with the decision letter. The signed contract, along with the appropriate deposit, should be returned to Sabot at Stony Point by the date indicated in order to reserve the student’s place for the coming year.
