Orientation Sessions

As a first step in learning about Sabot at Stony Point's Lower School, interested parents are invited to attend one of the orientation sessions scheduled during the Fall/Winter. Our Executive Director, Irene Carney, will discuss the school’s philosophy and programs and will spend time answering questions about the school. Parents of current students will be available to answer questions as well.

These are informal meetings lasting about an hour and a half. Parents are encouraged to register for a particular session in advance by contacting Maggie Barrett by phone at (804) 272-1341 or by email. All Lower School orientations will begin in the assembly room.

Application

Families who wish to apply after attending an orientation should submit a completed application and Request for Records form, along with a non-refundable $50 application fee. Please consult the admissions calendar at the bottom of this page for important dates and deadlines.

Testing

After submitting an application, families should make arrangements with a qualified psychologist or licensed testing center to administer the appropriate test to their child, as indicated below:

Students applying to enter Kindergarten should take the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI-III).

Students applying to enter First through Fifth Grades should take the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-IV).

(If you are having the test administered at another independent school, please furnish a copy of the results when you receive them.) Test results should be submitted to Sabot at Stony Point no later than Friday, January 28, 2011.  We suggest families contact one of the following centers:
