Anna Golden, Atelierista (Studio Teacher)
Anna has been teaching at Sabot at Stony Point since 1996. She is an artist working in paint and mixed media, with a background in photography and printmaking. She has studied K-8 education, earned a Master's degree in art education, and is an adjunct professor in art education and education. Anna's Atelierista blog is read by educators and people from around the world who are interested in progressive education. She has two teenage daughters, a husband, two dogs, and is a volunteer for community radio. |

Catherine Henney, Math Specialist
Ms. Henney holds a Bachelor’s degree from U.C. Berkeley and a Master's degree in Teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University. In her classroom, she seeks to establish a respectful and collaborative environment and a true community of learners. She is currently participating in the Virginia Mathematics and Science Coalition’s math specialist program. Renee Kunnen, Health and Physical Education
Renee graduated from Lynchburg College with a B.S. in Athletic Training and earned a Master’s degree in Health and Movement Science from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her previous experience includes directing the GirlForce program at the YMCA of Greater Richmond, and assisting with the implementation of YMCA GuyForce. Linda Laino, Spanish
Linda brings to her teaching her deep love for the Spanish language and the many cultures of Latin America, especially Mexico, to which she has strong ties and where she visits frequently. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University, a post-graduate teaching license from the University of Richmond, and is currently pursuing a Spanish endorsement. Melissa Oliver – Resource Faculty; Research and Media Specialist
Having previously taught for two years in Sabot’s Preschool, Melissa returns to us as Research and Media Specialist. In this role, she will serve as the school librarian, support investigative research in the Lower School, and support Exploratory as well as other student research endeavors in the Middle School. Melissa looks forward to sharing her love of books and reading with the school community, as well as to helping students navigate digital resources. Having previously taught for two years in Sabot’s Preschool, Melissa returns to us as Research and Media Specialist. Stephanie Parady, Director of Extended Day
After earning a B.A. in Arts Management at Randolph-Macon College, Stephanie assisted at a summer arts program for children administered by the Piedmont Arts Association (a subsidiary of the VMFA), and later went on to work as Guest Services Manager at the Children’s Museum. Realizing that her true interest lay in education rather than the nonprofit world, she worked for three years as a nanny, and in 2007, she joined our Preschool, working closely with Sara Ferguson as an assistant teacher. |

Chris Hackenberg, Extended Day Staff
This is Chris' sixth year at Sabot at Stony Point. After teaching for four years, she joined our Extended Day staff last year. She loves the joyful sense of community and "family" established in Extended Day as students across all grade levels and teachers work and play together. Chris earned a degree in business administration from The Pennsylvania State University, and after working in sales and marketing, realized that her heart is with children. She has been caring for children for 27 years. |
